How extensive customization helped a leading game developer successfully serve over 100000 user sessions on Black Friday.

Blizzard is one of the world’s leading game developers who own some of the most popular games like Diablo, World of Warcraft, StarCraft’s, etc. Gear Store is an enterprise eCommerce store which sells gaming gears and curios associated with Blizzards games.

Rage was tasked with building the backend of the Gear store on a Magento 2 platform in just 8 months.

Key Requirements

  • Multiple key stakeholders across different continents and time zones.
  • We were working with the just-in-market version of Magento 2.1.
  • Functioning of the site involved extensive real time integrations with Blizzard’s backend and third party systems.
  • Architecting a site that is extremely robust with ability to handle large volumes of transactions and sudden spikes.
  • Extensive third party integration and complex data migration.

We worked directly with Magento in identifying issues and directly contributed to find fixes. We also worked through extensive customization and enhancements to meet demanding business requirements. Developed custom scripts for managing the massive data migration exercise and a meticulous plan to handle the synchronization of multiple legacy inventories across various systems.

Blizzard went live on schedule with one of the most advanced eCommerce sites ever. They successfully served over 100000 user sessions on Black Friday 2018 with 1.5 Mn pageviews and delivered nearly 15,000 orders on a single day with a revenue of over USD100,000.
